The city of Demmin sought a place for people to pause and reflect at the side of the Bach Richtgraben. The semicircular bench, with an outer radius extending to 5 meters, opens up the seating for more than 20 people. A 1.5m indentation on the front side, both in the x- and y-axes, creates an opening that invites movement and interaction, providing direct access to the seating. This design compresses the volume while allowing the backrest to rise, and the seat depth to vary. The elliptical shape of the backrest serves as a natural sound arch, enhancing acoustics within the space. Even at maximum seating distance, visitors can engage

in quiet conversation.
